What's In Ned's Head? (Gamifying M.C. Practice)

image

Before you saddle your students with another practice multiple-choice test ...

Try a gamified approach that is not only super engaging, but super edifying.

In today's video, I demonstrate for teachers how I facilitate a game of What's in Ned's Head? (Poetry Analysis Edition).

I contend that good multiple-choice test takers are good because they know how to question a text.

So, in brief, the game explicitly teaches students these exact and specific strategies.

To demonstrate the concept and game play, I spotlight the poem "Flashcards" by Rita Dove.

The game slides are available for download in the description of the video.

In the coming days, I will be making a follow-up video that will showcase how to facilitate this activity for rhetorical analysis.

But I also will be gamifying the 10 most commonly taught AP Literature poems.

So, to stay abreast of things, please subscribe to my new YouTube Channel (Kristian Kuhn ... The "Bob Ross" of Composition).

Happy teaching and happy writing!
