In today's writing workshop video, I "Bob Ross" how to construct an FRQ 2-Style rhetorical analysis of Jelly Roll's Senate Committee Fentanyl Speech.
From start to finish, I "paint" a number of declarative theses and syllogistic body paragraphs so that the entire process is completely demystified for teacher and student.
There are even a few conclusion paragraphs that spotlight a couple of my sentence stems.
So, by the end of the video writing workshop, students should know how to cobble together this particular rhetorical analysis essay from start to finish all while pulling the strings of my heuristics.
This is a poignantly engaging speech. My students loved tackling this particular piece and their writing reflected this fact.
In the description of the video, you have access to my writing workshop slides, the transcript of the speech, as well as the video of Jelly Roll's address.
Look in the video's description for all of the above.
Happy teaching and happy writing!
