Here's something I'm convinced of ...
There isn't an ELA teacher in the vast-wide-land who has a stipulation in their contract that mandates compulsory unpaid overtime.
So, why do so many of us work well beyond our contractual obligations?
I think we all know the culprit: the traditional grading paradigm.
And the kicker - no matter how much red ink we manage to squeeze into the margins of a student draft - to what extent do our efforts really help our students grow and mature as writers?
The fact is of the matter is that most students plateau in their writing relatively early in the academic year.
In today's video, I have an alternative grading method that not only allows teachers to plow through a stack of essays with ease, but sit back and watch your students flourish in their writing abilities.
It's called 100, 90, 80, 70 Roulette.
Here's to an easier, softer way!
Happy teaching and happy writing!
