Engagement tends to lag at this time of the year in these parts of the woods, so I dug deep into my bag of tricks for today's writing workshop video.
Borrowing a page from Steven Blake Crowder's playbook, I am giving my students a choice between the following five topic options for their next synthesis essay:
- Change My Mind: The NFL Is Rigged
- Change My Mind: Pot Was Legalized to Keep You Stupid
- Change My Mind: AI Ain't Nothing More & Nothing Less Than Cheating
- Change My Mind: Ban Cell Phones In School Already
- Change My Mind: Tik Tok Kills Braincells
To embrace my inner-Bob Ross, I wrote models/exemplars for all five essays ... I basically "painted" countless intros. employing my declarative/inverted thesis heuristic ... and I got crazy with it and even "painted" a slew of body paragraphs in which I pulled the strings of my syllogistic method heuristic ... and to boot ... I even model how to throw a conclusion paragraph on the end of things.
Later this week, I will have all five workshops in my Youtube channel.
But for today ... here's the writing workshop video for the football conspiracy theorists among your students.
Happy teaching and happy writing!
