Most teachers agree … as far as the basic teachings of grammar, punctuation, and syntax go … there needs to be a return to the Old School.
But from the vantage point of a kid who got the bulk of his schooling in the 90s, I know that the hardcore parochial approach wouldn’t fly with my students today.
Let’s face it – those workbook activities of yesteryear are pretty tedious and cumbersome … but for many of us – they proved to do the trick in terms of teaching us foundational literacies.
