When I first started managing social media for businesses, it was an accident. I was helping with the marketing for a few bars and learned quickly that social media was the fastest way to reach the most people possible.

I also realized it was a lot of work for a business owner to develop a content strategy, create the content, write the posts, post them AND THEN do it all over again every day for multiple platforms.

Over and over again, I've seen how powerful content on social media can be! It can grow a business from the ground up- bringing in new customers. It can help a podcast reach the people who really need and want the content. It can help you stand out from the competitors in your area because of who you are (not just because you happen to be the first click on Google).

But in order for all of this to work- your content has to actually connect with an audience so that they engage with it (comment, like, share, save, watch ect).

Here are 10 things you can do today to improve your engagement across all the social media platforms:

1. Use actual pictures of people in the company- no stock photos

2. Create video content- across almost every platform this is the fastest way to reach the most people

3. Create controversy! Take a stand on something in your industry (something light-hearted but that people might have strong opinions on in your niche)

4. Ask people's opinion on a topic "what would you do in this situation..."

5. Create sharable content- quotes, truths, memes, jokes ect

6. Share something incorrectly…on purpose- spell something wrong or say something wrong so that people are inclined to correct you.

7. Share a win- this could be a case study, a story or a testimonial

8. Use pictures of the founder and their family

9. Pictures of pets- honestly dogs get people EVERY TIME!

10. Add a CTA like "comment below...." or "save this for later" "share is with someone who needs it"
