You may know what I'm speaking about ,


You may have seen the news about Instagram...or heard whispers about more changes coming to the app.


If you have, or you haven't, here's what you need to know AND why.


Adam Mosseri, the head of IG, went live last week to tell us a little about Instagram's priorities. What he said was they recognize Tik Tok as competition, and they will be adjusting to compete.


He literally said "Instagram is no longer a photo-sharing app" and the priorities are: creators, video, shopping, and messaging. (You can read a more in-depth article here that links the video)


So what does this mean for you?


What this means is IF you plan on staying relevant on IG, you should be paying attention. If your focus is not video or shopping, your account will probably continue to become more and more obsolete. This is one of those situations where the writing is on the wall, it's up to you to decide if you're going to keep up or stay behind.

Content ideas for 7/12-7/16


Monday 12- It’s #NationalVacationRentalMonth, don’t be shy about using vacation photos or vacation-themed photos this month to spice up your feed.  Vacations are a great way to gather large amounts of video content to use later.  Location video content can give your aesthetic a relaxed and calm summery feel when posted as a theme for the next 30 days.  If you are going on vacay this month, take time to plan at least ten content ideas.  Batch your content by filming it over a few days and see how far you can spread out over several posts while still adding relevance to your message. 


Tuesday 13- #NationalFrench FryDay  So many fun ways you could spin this!  Involve the entire staff and maybe even film ordering fries at your favorite drive-thru and make a quick and fun reel!  Fries wars between staff members, A fry eating contest, or even a quick selfie with your favorite fry.  


Wednesday 14- Maybe you have heard the buzz about user-generated content.  It’s important!  Think of one unique way you can encourage your followers to create content for you.  One example would be a contest to submit a video of your company car out and about in your local city, and the best video wins a gift card.  If this scenario does not work quite right for your e-commerce business, think of something similar and run with it!  If you are having a hard time coming up with user-generated content ideas, I would love to help! Thursday 15- #GetToKnowYourCustomersDay  This couldn't be any more straightforward!  This needs to be you!  Hopefully, you have a ring light by now, so grab your favorite fancy outfit and get up in front of that camera like it was a job interview.  If you're not into speaking, you could make creative movements and add text blurbs with a song.  You can do this easily with a video editing app like InShot. Look, you have an instant Reel!


Friday 16- #NationalWatermelonMonth  Watermelon adds a great pop of color to any photo.  Get creative with the shapes of your slices or hollow out the melon and fill it with a refreshing Friday drink.  Do a happy dance around the watermelon in celebration of Friday and make it a Reel.  TGIF, right
