How I got over 60K views on TikTok.

We're gonna do things a bit differently this week.
But first, storytime:
I recently started managing a TikTok account for a client. Obviously, if you've read my past emails, you know I fully believe in the power of organic reach on TikTok. But, I hope you know by now, nothing happens overnight.
So this client started this account before I started working with them. They were posting videos without much strategy. The videos were appealing to other professionals in their industry, but that is not their client.
When I took over (just, 2 weeks ago), I knew we needed to shift this. It's great to get engagement because it lets the platform know we create good content. But also, aren't we creating content to market our business to our potential customers? (The answer is, yes!).
So we shifted with strategy. And Monday, we got to ride the wave! My client texted me to let me know we were Tik Tok famous! That one video got almost 1.8K likes, over 50 comments, shared almost 400 times and we gained over 250 followers in 12 hours.
So why does this matter, aren't these just vanity metrics?
This matters because why do we create content? For people to see! If we don't have followers and views, our marketing efforts are in vain! So I don't believe these are vanity if they are going to help us reach our goals.
What was different about this video versus all the others?
Honestly, I believe that some of it was luck. Sometimes, you get to ride out the algorithm wave!
But there were also some specific things I did.
- BIG ONE: Catch the viewer's attention in the first second of the video. I added text that left room for interpretation, making people want to watch to find out.
- We've been consistently posting on the platform and already had some good engagement.
- We include a CTA in all the videos
- I spend time engaging with other accounts and answering all comments

Hopefully, you've gotten some great content ideas in the last few months.
The greatest thing about consistency in creating content is you really learn what your followers respond to and you can start to make more of that.
Rules for creating content:
- It should align with your brand. Meaning brand colors and fonts. Overall content similar to what you (as a brand) like, believe in, and can teach.
- It should align with the platform. Not everything can be cross-posted as is. You usually need to edit a little bit differently to get something on multiple platforms.
- It should be with the times. Video content is queen these days. But know your platform. The types of videos you post on YouTube are quite different than what you post on TikTok.
