Sometimes, you stumble onto a cat who is the perfect fit for your family. For us, Pumpkin is it. A purrfect prince. He even tries to help me type.

We're taking him to get fixed soon. Wish him luck!

Please remember, cats who aren't spayed or neutered are more likely to try to sneak out once hormones kick into high gear. You may be able to find an affordable spay/neuter program in your area by clicking here: Best Friends Spay and Neuter Resource Map.

Kitten Tea

Did you know that cats can get benefits from herbal tea just like humans do? Well, not exactly like humans. Some herbs are toxic to cats, as is caffeine. For this reason, it's best to avoid teaching your cat to drink from a tea cup. While adorable, it could lead to an unfortunate accident down the road. Instead, brew one of the following teas, dilute it with cold water and serve in a shallow dish somewhere safe. (Read more at thedodo.com.)

Teas for helping cats relax:

  • Chamomile
  • Catnip
  • Valerian root

Teas to help with immunity, inflammation and skin irritations:

  • Chamomile
  • Echinacea
  • Dandelion root

If your pet has a favorite homemade treat 🐟 that brings them comfort, please reply to this message and tell me about it.

Pets, like people, can have reactions to herbs. Keep an eye out for signs of distress including: panting, hyper or aggressive behavior, vomiting

Yesterday was the Vernal Equinox, the first day of spring, when the days start to see more light than dark. Celebrate with a spring-themed cozy!

Easter Egg Scramble: Holiday Pet Sleuth Mysteries

by Annee Jones

There’s a bad egg in town…can Lily and her friends find out who’s trying to ruin Easter?

Lily is a new baker at Paws-N-Pastries, and she has her eye on Jellybean, the newest cat to be welcomed to the refuge there. Like Jellybean, Lily doesn’t have a family to love, and she really wants a companion. While she’s thinking about bringing the kitty home with her, Lily decides to take part in some local events to learn more about the people in town and who they are.

She volunteers to work at the local Easter Egg Hunt at the high school and gets to know Evan Rogers, a single dad with captivating eyes and an adorable little girl. A week before the Easter Egg Hunt Lily finds out some awful news. Someone has covered the high school football field with cement. Was it an act of rivalry against the football team or a ruse to stop the children from having fun on Easter?

Lily tries to figure out who it was and gets some unexpected help from Miss Louise, One-Eyed Willie, and Jellybean, the calico kitty Lily wants to adopt. Can they solve the mystery and find a new place to host the egg hunt in time to save Easter?

Cats, Crime & Creme Brulee

by Polly Holmes

Nothing spoils an Easter Bonnet Parade like a cold-blooded murder!

I’m Evelyn Grayson, and I’m a witch, but today I’m just plain old Evelyn. At least that’s what I’d hoped when Tyler and I agreed to attend the Noble Crest Assisted Living Easter Family Fun Day in nearby Hallows Creek. But the invitation said nothing about jealous lovers, a cover-up, a talking cat statue, and murder!

The festivities are in full swing, the sweet treats freely flowing, and Tyler was about to whip the pants off the competition in the Chess tournament when a bone-tingling scream sent my witch radar off the charts.

Elderly resident Madge Bromfield is dead, and all evidence points to foul play.

Besides magic, there’s nothing I love more than a good mystery, so with my trusty feline familiar in tow, I don my investigator hat, determined to unmask the killer before they strike again.

Yes, that last one is a repeat. We've had a heavy influx of new subscribers, and I didn't want them to miss out on a treat. Happy Spring, everyone!

Until next time,

Katie O'Keene ☆
