☕ The Tuesday Tea - Black Metal Unicorn 🤘

Dear ,

I will admit to making some juvenile financial decisions at times, like applying for a secured credit card just because it's a black metal card with a crystalline unicorn on the front. 🦄

BUT HOW COULD I NOT?!

I have to gush a bit about it. If you're not interested, please skip to the next section now. 😉

It arrived today and is the coolest card, even the packaging is tricked out. It's made of all black, thick cardboard with a waxy coating, and when you hold it just right, words appear on the back. There's a slide out that holds the card, but as you pull it out, another section of the envelope slides inward, revealing the card's face. It's almost magical.

The card acts like a secured card that you fund through your bank or debit card, like you would with Venmo or Paypal. You put $100 on the card, and you can use it to spend $100 online or to take $100 out of an ATM.

It was very easy for me to use my debit card to transfer money to my card and then use the mobile number to make a purchase.

That really is a helpful option. This card has both a physical card and mobile card number, along with several advanced features. There's a stealth card feature you can use to make online purchases without the risk of someone stealing your number. You can do something similar when using ATMs. No fees.

The company is all about taking power from banks and giving it to individuals, which is something I can absolutely support. ✊ I believe you need an income of $12,000+ per year to qualify. Also, if you're in Checksystems due to identity theft or something like that you might not be approved. The good news is that there's no credit check, so it won't hurt your credit score if you're denied.

The fishy: This card reports as a credit card with a $1500 limit and 3% utilization, always paid on time, but it isn't. This is supposedly to fight against the credit reporting system that unfairly penalizes people in situations outside their control. People might say that's great, but it's still dishonest, and sooner or later, I think credit bureaus will stop reporting it because of it, which may impact your credit score.

I'm not a financial advisor (obviously!) but this card isn't for everyone.

However, if you're comfortable with the risk and you'd like your own black metal unicorn, check out cred.ai, and if you think of it, please use my referral number ( RJZKDZ ) so that I might receive a small referral fee.

Or don't, and live vicariously through my questionable financial decisions. ⭐

Speaking of Unicorns

I'm a lifelong fan of Peter S. Beagle's tale The Last Unicorn and am just as big of a fan of the cartoon (the first project created by the company that would go on to become Studio Ghibli).
