Greetings from the Atlantic Ocean! I am

sailing from Ft Lauderdale to Rome on a 15 night transatlantic cruise. We often choose a transatlantic because we enjoy the ship and the relaxed schedule. No meals to prepare or a bed to make. Plenty of entertainment to enjoy.

Taking a transatlantic cruise offers several unique advantages, making it an appealing travel experience for those who enjoy leisurely and scenic voyages. Here are some of the main benefits:

1. Cost-Effective Travel

Transatlantic cruises can be surprisingly affordable, especially compared to flights. Since these cruises often reposition ships between seasons, cruise lines offer discounted fares, making them a budget-friendly way to cross the ocean.

2. More Relaxed and Unrushed Experience

With multiple sea days, transatlantic cruises provide a slow-paced, stress-free journey. Unlike typical cruises packed with port stops, these voyages focus on relaxation, giving passengers time to unwind and enjoy onboard amenities.

3. Luxury at a Lower Price

Since transatlantic cruises tend to be longer (typically 7-14 days), many offer high-end accommodations, gourmet dining, and premium entertainment at a fraction of the cost of a traditional luxury vacation.

4. Unique Itineraries

These cruises often stop at fascinating ports along the way, such as the Azores, Bermuda, the Canary Islands, or Iceland, giving travelers a chance to explore places not commonly included in other cruise routes.

5. Plenty of Onboard Activities

With several days at sea, cruise lines offer a wide range of activities—cooking classes, live shows, enrichment lectures, fitness centers, and even planetariums on some ships (like Cunard’s Queen Mary 2). I have seen groups playing dominos, board games, card games or some bring along a hand stitching project.

6. No Jet Lag

Since you gradually cross time zones, your body adjusts more easily compared to flying across the Atlantic, reducing the effects of jet lag upon arrival.

7. Smooth and Scenic Sailing

Modern ships are designed for stability, making transatlantic crossings smoother than ever. Plus, there’s something magical about endless ocean views, stunning sunsets, and the occasional sighting of marine life.

8. Great for Digital Detox

With Wi-Fi at sea, a transatlantic cruise is a great opportunity to unplug from technology if you like. I am still in touch with my clients even while cruising.

Would you consider taking a transatlantic cruise, and if so, where would you want to embark and disembark?

Our next transatlantic will be in Sept when we take the Queen Mary 2 from New York to Southampton, UK. The British National Symphony is aboard and it makes for a wonderful week.

In Oct we will sail the brand new Star Princess.

Happy Sailing to All!
