MSC World America Makes a Grand Entrance in Miami
On April 9, 2025, MSC Cruises officially named its newest flagship, MSC World America, at the Port of Miami. This marks a significant milestone as the ship becomes the largest MSC vessel to operate in North America.
Starting April 12, MSC World America will embark on alternating 7-night itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean, with stops at destinations like Puerto Plata, San Juan, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Roatán. All voyages will include a visit to MSC's private island, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve which I feel is the most beautiful private island experience. It feels native.
Upcoming Cruise Ship Launches
The cruise industry is set to welcome several new ships in the coming years:
Star Princess: Princess Cruises' next-generation ship, arriving in 2025, promises innovative features and luxurious amenities. The Sanctuary Collection staterooms are exceptional. This is a ship within a ship experience like several other companies. What sets it apart is that no children under the age of 18!
Star of the Seas: Royal Caribbean's groundbreaking Icon class, launched in 2023, but it continues to make waves with its record-breaking size and onboard experiences. Arriving August 2025.
Disney Adventure: Disney Cruise Line's upcoming ship, tailored for the Asian market, is set to debut in the near future.
Norwegian Cruise Line debuted their newest ship, the Norwegian Aqua, this month. This vessel is the first in NCL's Prima Plus class and represents a significant evolution in their fleet.
Between 2024 and 2028, over 25 new ships are expected to enter service globally, reflecting the industry's robust growth and innovation .
While all of the new builds are large capacity ships, the companies are refurbishing their smaller ships to get into smaller less congested ports. If a smaller ship with refined dining and superior service is for you, try Silver Seas, Seaborn or Explora Journey. And don't forget River cruising both US and abroad.
