Bringing Agatha Christie to Life

Hello, My Friends!
It has been awhile, hasn't it?? With good reason...
One of the great joys I discovered during lockdown was that I absolutely adore this random writer, you've probably never heard of her, but her name is Agatha Christie....?
I know! I know! I am the president of the Last On The Train Club. (Not the Orient Express.)
I was experimenting with adapting my own books for the stage (see also: A Spirited Manor and Queen Mab.) And I hit a point where I wondered what it would be like to adapt someone else's work. Agatha Christie's books were just coming into the public domain, so I decided to give it a go.
I adapted her first book (the story that introduced the world to Hercule Poirot) and posted The Mysterious Affair at Styles to the New Play Exchange. (It's a catalog of indie published plays.) Out of the blue, I got this call from Theatre in the Round Players in Minneapolis asking if they could bring it to the stage.
And bring it to the stage they did! We earned a Critics' Pick by the Star Tribune, were listed as one of the highlights of the year by one of Minneapolis's biggest theatre bloggers, and earned 16 BroadwayWorld nominations.
And we're doing it again next month!
Join us at Theatre in the Round Players for Agatha Christie's second Poirot book, The Murder on the Links. A bunch of the original team are back and, seriously, you are going to fall in love. It's feel good murder at its finest!
And are you sad that you missed out on The Mysterious Affair at Styles? Never fear! Next summer, it will be coming to the Edmonds Driftwood Players in Edmonds, WA. (Home of PBS's very own Rick Steves. In fact, he's one of the theatre's sponsors.) Even though it is seven months away, some of the shows are close to selling out, so grab a ticket if you're into that sort of thing! I'll remind you closer to May 2026, too.
More updates coming fast and furious! But for now, may your trick-or-treat bags overfloweth!
Your pal,
Kate
