Hey there, Party People!

I sit here typing to you bleary eyed as I listen to the coyotes howl at the moon. Or perhaps the northern lights. We've been lousy with those mystical nightly offerings recently. Did I show you my pictures from the last ones?

Well, speaking of rare and wonderful occurrences, guess what? One of my shorts, CUE, is going to be in the Stillwater Shorts Festival at Town & Gown in Stillwater, OK! How cool is that? Tickets are $10 at the door and all proceeds go to help keep siblings in foster care together. Go see a show! Laugh! And support an important cause.

(And if YOU have a theatre that you'd like to do one of my shows, they are all available to license!)

What else is going on... Well, as some of you may (or may not) know, I sit on the board of Rain City Projects. They say that the whole theatre industry is "who you know." So, we try to put together events for playwrights to get to know folks.

This weekend, we hosted a Play Party Challenge at the Jules Maes Saloon, which is Seattle's oldest bar (the building isn't actually the oldest. But they brought the actual, historic, physical bar down from Alaska and it predates us all!).

They have a stage in their old speakeasy and they kindly donate the space to local artists. So, fourteen playwrights were given a two word prompt on Friday, they had to write a three-page script, and then show up on Sunday and cast from any of the actors who had shown up. And then we put on a show! It was a ton of fun and a great way for a lot of us to scrape off the post-lockdown rust.

There's me and Juliet and Maggie...

OH! Speaking of Maggie... For those of you who are like, "Great. More theatre. BUT WHAT ABOUT YOUR BOOKS?!" I'm in the midst of writing my next Agatha Ball book and then will get back to the land of fantasy. I promise I haven't forgotten about the last Maggie book! It's coming! It's just taking a little longer than I planned. But in the meantime, if you haven't grabbed Lazy, Hazy, Days of MacKays, it's a great summertime read that delves into why it is so dang hot. Perfect for reading while you're sipping something cool by the pool!

That's enough from me. I hope that life is treating you well and you're awash in making wonderful summer memories! Until next time!
