January Musings

Hola, mis amigos!

...well, that's about as far as I got in my 2024 Duolingo "Learn Spanish" resolution... There's always 2025, right?

Welcome to the January edition of my newsletter! Did everyone get through the holidays? Get everything they wanted? Got good 2025 goals identified?

Well, if one of them is to "See More Live Theatre," you're in luck if you're in Baltimore! My play, Working for Crumbs, was picked up by Spotlighters Theatre.

Back when I was getting my theatre degree north of the city, Spotlighters always held this legendary status. It was scrappy and upstart and where all the cool kids performed. FINALLY (umpty-um years later) I made the big time, folks! My words will be coming out of the mouths of those treading the boards starting this Friday!

Excuse me as I wipe away a proud tear.

What else is going on? Well, it appears I remembered how to write, and I'm going to make that deadline to get Love Loch, by my pen name Agatha Ball, into your hot little hands in March. You can pre-order it here. Every now and again, you make yourself laugh as you're writing and maybe it's the seasonal cold meds talking, but Love Loch totally has me giggling. YMMV.

And I promise I have not forgotten you, Maggie lovers! Look for the pre-order going live next month!

Meanwhile, I continue my extrication from the social media cesspool (I'm a big fan of One Sec if you need an intervention. It makes you pause for a breath before it opens your problem apps.) However, I have signed up on BlueSky if you're over there: https://bsky.app/profile/katedanley.bsky.social

And now for the lovely thought for the day: So, I was watching Eugene Levy's Reluctant Traveler and he went to Sweden and started talking to one of the fellows there. And the guy was talking about the importance of pausing (in his context it was "connecting with nature," but ew, bugs.) This wise dude said that there is this old saying that sometimes, you're running so fast, you leave your spirit behind. And so you have to pause to let it catch up.

May your spirit catch up with you, my friends.
