Working for Crumbs

At the end of February 2020, I hopped on a plane to New York City and met up with some of the most talented folks I knew to put on a reading of my workplace farce, BureauCRAZY. It went amazing. In between shows, I went out to lunch with a bunch of producers at Sardi's and we talked about bringing the reading back in just a few short months to do a backer's audition. (That's where investors are invited to attend with their check books.) The wheels were in motion to bring this show Off-Broadway. The dream was happening! It was real!

...and then...

...well, we all know what happened next.

But the theatre world is starting to reopen and I'm really pleased to say that BureauCRAZY is rising from the oatmeal raisin ashes. It's gotten a name change. It's now Working for Crumbs. It's had a few more rewrites.

And it's getting a reading at Vashon Repertory Theatre May 16 at 7:00 p.m.

Grace and Amy, two outrageous admins stuck in a soul-sucking job, are just slogging their way through the work week. But when their supervisor chokes, everything goes awry and begins a domino-effect of destruction in this quick-witted, sidesplitting farce.

One awesome thing about this play is that it has had an incredible roster of directors take this bull by the horns and I'm so pleased to say the show is adding another impressive clown to this rodeo. No, really. He specializes in clowning. Vashon Rep connected my play with a guy named Christopher Kehoe who has an MFA in Ensemble-Based Physical Theatre from the Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre in San Francisco. Dell'Arte specializes in commedia dell'arte, which is, historically, where slapstick were created. I can hardly wait to see what what he does! Yes, AND!

And just throwing it out there, if you're a theatre maker, all of my plays are available to license. (It's as easy as an email.) You can read them on the New Play Exchange or email me for a copy.

Now to other things... a heads up that the final days of The Woodcutter sale in the UK and Australia are winding to a close. My publisher determines these sales, so grab it while you can! Heck, grab a copy for a friend. It's super easy to gift a book on Amazon. Just click "Buy for Others." That's a lot of joy for 99-p!
