You finally get the job, hit the milestone or achieve the goal.
You’re proud and feel on top of the world!
Then… your friend shares THEIR news:
A crazy promotion.
A 6 figure win.
A 30 day six-pack (how the heck did you do that? Ketosis?)
And suddenly, your win doesn’t feel as good.
And this happens at so many moments in life.
You save up and buy a new car.
Then you get cut off in traffic by a 19-year-old driving a Ferrari.
Your business grows by 20%.
Then you see someone exit theirs for 7 figures.
We compare ourselves to people we have NO business comparing our selves to.
Ultimately leaving us feeling ‘less than’.
Here’s the thing:
There will always be someone doing “better.”
There will ALWAYS be someone that…
Makes more.
Lifts heavier.
Gets more praise.
It’s a losing game.
Here’s what took me TO LONG to realize:
Trying to be the best creates comparison.
Trying to be our best creates growth.
That’s the difference between self-doubt and self-confidence.
So instead of looking at everyone in your life, try this:
Look backward… just 6 months.
Where were you then?
How have you grown?
What have you accomplished?
That’s the real ‘success story’.
So please… as your email friend… do me a BIG favour and just:
keep moving forward.
You’re doing far better than you think.
Your friend,
