Reader Question: Are your characters based on real people?
The short answer: Yes and no.
The long answer is a bit of a ramble. If you're not interested, scroll away.
Nigel's looks were inspired by a tall guy with that head of hair. Yes, he's still single.
A dynamic redhead I know influenced Mira’s looks. No, she's not single.
Raven evolved. What can I say? I got nothing.
Flanagan’s looks got lifted from a chick magnet in the Northeast. That guy got a personality transplant to become Mira's "Cop".
An old friend from Ukraine inspired Kieran's best uncle in the universe persona.
Jessie is an amalgam of the courageous women in recovery.
Francine's theatrics came from a drama queen law librarian.
Kurt asked me to use his name because he thought being a vampire would be “badass”.
The BaSIS building is where my accountant has her office.
Lilit? I have no personal experience with hellhounds, but she's every devoted dog I've ever known.
Glorioso? Never met a firedrake, but she's a sassy gal.
I assure you, Journey is not Mira. Mira loves snack cakes, movies, TV shows, and can’t carry a tune in a bucket. Journey is a bookworm, bakes gourmet cupcakes with buttercream frosting and is a soprano. Both share a love of dogs, prefer Dunkin’ coffee, and have a fondness for classic International Harvester Scout vehicles.
