Fiction Fridays - A Toast To The Future

Aug 27, 2021 12:01 pm

“Exploring life through fiction, together.”

I spend more time than I like to admit dreaming what my life would be like without children. I love my kids, and I wouldn’t choose another path. Yet, I fill my brain with all the fun and freedom I could otherwise have and it tortures me in the long dark hours of teething-filled screaming.

Fiction Bite - A toast to the future

Here’s to catching up. Here’s to no responsibilities. Here’s to being able to drink again.

Here’s to freedom to travel, and to work. Here’s for the right to choose.

Here’s to safe clinics. Here’s to good advice. Here’s to a lost life.

Mummy’s sorry.

Final Words

I’m trying to stop. It’s slowly cutting me open. The imagined life is so great, so trouble free, that I struggle to stay in the real world. Then I’m not present with my kids. They act up more. I miss the joys. It gets worse so I detach even more. And from that imagined, perfect place, it all seems so hard. How can I persuade myself to come back?

With Love,

Josiah
