EVERY SINGLE 4th of JULY...
...every year around the 4th of July I listen to "America The Beautiful" by Ray Charles, because no one has done it better!
Remember the movie “The Sandlot”? This song is forever tied in my mind to the scene where they play baseball by the light of the fireworks.
I don’t have to tell you how 🔥 the movie is!
I don’t have to tell you how 🔥🔥 the music of Ray Charles is!
This one is iconic…but never cliche.
My suggestion: take a 3 minute and 37 second break in your car today or tomorrow and enjoy an uninterrupted listen to Ray Charles “America The Beautiful”. You’ll be glad you did! ☺️

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
“Puerto Rican Blue” started as a bass/left handed piano-riff. Then came the Latin inspired percussion groove you hear in this video.
In next week’s newsletter be on the look out for a short video update of the progress on this song.

A EXCELLENT BOOK ON WEALTH & HAPPINESS
Scouts honor (wait does that work if you were never in the scouts🤔?...well anyway) - I have consumed more than my fair share of Naval's content in audio books and podcasts, and so I feel no shame or hesitancy in recommending "The Almanack of Naval Ravikant" despite the fact that I've haven't finished reading it yet.

In keeping with Ravikant's own approach to reading, this treasure trove of principles and maxims is presented in the "choose-your-own-adventure" format.
Crack it open while waiting in line for your coffee and I suspect that in that brief moment you'll find some bit of wisdom worth applying in your own life.
Not feeling bookish?

A FEW GREAT QUOTES FROM NAVAL RAVIKANT…
“Art is anything done for its own sake.”
••••••••
“Desire is a contract you make with yourself to be unhappy until you get what you want.”
••••••••
"What you feel tells you nothing about the facts - it merely tells you something about your estimate of the facts.”
••••••••
“Specialization is for insects 🕷🐞 🐜. I don’t believe in this thing of trying to focus your life down to one thing. You’ve got one life just do everything you want.”
- Naval Ravikant
