It gives you a reason to look at it again.
Ask why the assumption exists. What problem was it solving? What conditions made it necessary? Are those conditions still true?
Sometimes you'll rediscover a very good reason.
Sometimes you'll discover that the world changed and the assumption didn't.
That's where judgment begins.
