Weekly Team Leader Tip: You’ve Been Practicing

“Generalists don’t just bring ideas to the table. They set the table—so others can bring their brilliance, too.”

— The Generalist’s Advantage

Some of the best leadership lessons I’ve learned? They didn’t come from business school.

They came from holding tension between family members who don’t agree. From reading a room that was about to boil over. From starting a new project with zero map and way too much urgency.

Which is to say: you’ve probably been practicing leadership longer than you realize.

The question is—are you willing to count it?

Because most people don’t. They discard the “personal.” They sanitize the story. They try to look the part.

But leadership doesn’t come from polish. It comes from integration. From letting the whole story speak.

So instead of asking what you need to learn next—try asking: What have I already lived that I haven’t led from yet?
