Ramblings from the Desk of J. Morgyn White
2026 is going to be incredible. From the runaway train that was January, I can only imagine what the rest of the year holds and I hope you are laughing with me. I'm incredibly excited for February and March. Demons For Breakfast is on the final edit round and should start to be out in the world as an eARC next week if everything goes as planned.
Witch in Doc Martens.
Wizard in chains.
Demons at the door.
Demons stalk San Francisco’s streets. Sorrel Redwood has spent her life fighting them—and failing to avenge her mother’s death. When she frees Ranth, a scarred wizard bound to a cursed bracelet, she inherits his fate. Now hunted by feral demons and shadowed by a ruthless cult, Sorrel has one chance: trust the man whose secrets could destroy them both. In a city of fog and blood, survival means sacrifice. And some sacrifices cut deeper than love. (art by Mirela Pilko)
PSsssst.
The buzzing excitement of this weekend is the official Demons for Breakfast cover reveal.
I've also gotten all of my pre-order work done early and you'll be able to pre-order paperback copies. (Keep that quiet until the weekend).
To make things even more exciting and stealthy, I've soft-launched pre-orders on my new shiny Etsy Shop - including a super limited Preorder Luxe Box with a custom printed box, along with signed paperbacks.
If you want all things Demons for Breakfast (and I promise the art for this book is incredible, this art is by @Drea.d.art), the luxe box will be your destination. Just wait until you see the other flower curse and demon stickers, bookmarks, and cards! There are other secret surprises inside.
Did I mention there is a map? Tami Twinicas designed the San Francisco Map in the background here and I'm over the moon about it. The Shasta Daisies are by Marina @by_alice_entropie
I’ve added a $10 off code to the link so it should fill in automatically but if you need the code it’s: NLLuxe26
If you want to read the eARC here is the official form to fill out so I can add you to the list!
The Future Me.
In other exciting news I’m beginning work in February on yet another fresh draft of my most beloved Valravyn. I know, I keep promising, but 2026 is the year of Valravyn! If I have my way, the whole series will be mapped out this spring and I’ll have Valravyn in your hands by fall. The plan is for five books and I’ve written three plus the prequel. Oh yes, did I mention there is an Origin story?
What I’m Reading.
I've almost finished The Sweet Blue Distance, by Sara Donati. I’ll be very sad when I get to the last page as I’ve really enjoyed the tale of a midwife/nurse traveling to Santa Fe in the 1840s. There’s a lovely slow burn romance woven in and a ton of really intriguing research that transports the reader. I love that this character aligns with her other books but also can be read as a standalone. If you enjoy historical and haven’t read Sara Donati’s Wilderness series, you must seek it out immediately.
Don’t Miss.
While I punch bookmarks and thread tassels, I'm watching Sandokan - the pirate romance set in the 1830s based on the novels by Emile Salgari and now as a series on Netflix. I’ve been waiting impatiently for it to be released in the US for months. While the bad guys seem a little flat, I’m really enjoying watching the development of the plot and the friction building between Can Yaman and Ed Westwick.
Next time I will all the Spring Release news and a giveaway opportunity.
Happy 2026!
