Ramblings from the Desk of J. Morgyn White
Welcome to almost-April! Everything is blooming in Sonoma County, and I'm bursting with news: First off is showing you this new gorgeous header for my newsletter created by the incredible Mirela Pilko @MirelaPilko. She managed to capture my messy and productive desk with its assembly of objects I love to collect, my writing armor, and my darling Ranger (yes, he is a Bengal!). I’m a long time collector of tiny things and you might spot some things here. So in love with it!
Demons for Breakfast is officially out in the world and reviews are pouring in. So grateful for the incredible love and so excited that readers are loving Ranth and Sorrel's wild magical adventure in San Francisco. There's a call for a second book to follow Demons for Breakfast turning it into a duology, so I'll be considering an Emerald Tablet adventure in my future plans. Huzzah!
Progress Report!
I’m also excited to share that my next big project (it's another series!) is fully underway (which may come before book 3 of Nightshade Hearts (codename DTN)) but as I’m racing to meet a deadline with an editor for May, details will have to wait. It's so much fun to be back in the writing cave. I can't wait to tell you more about it.
Psst
It’s a secret still, but I’m offering a .99 cent Spring Special for one week for both of the NightShade Hearts urban fantasy romance books starting now! Looking for the perfect palate cleanser in the form of a fast-paced banter adventure with some open door spice? Love witches or monsters? I have you covered. Here's your chance to stuff your e-reader.

Looking for signed limited edition paperbacks or PR Boxes?
That would be in my Author Shop.
What I'm Reading
I snagged a Fairyloot version of Weavingshaw because it was so pretty and then started to read—now I'm hooked by this deal-with-a-devil gothic fantasy and longing to crawl into bed and read more. Extra bonus points the FMC can see ghosts.
What I'm Watching
I began watching The Lady, about the assistant to the then Duchess, Sarah Ferguson, to discover I had to wait a week between episodes. While I wait I’m bingeing an old show called Billions on Showtime (fantastic characterizations), and watching some older films on Kanopy. The last one was On the Road, a cinematic interpretation of Jack Kerouac’s literary masterpiece.
Until May~ All The Best Wishes,
Joanne
P.S. As always, I'’ll leave you with a little something.

The Lofty View
©2026 J. Morgyn White
The figure crawled across the Kyiv rooftop like an arachnid leaving a trail that only a trained voyeur de voleuse could follow. For months I had painstakingly devised a web from which my fair friend could not escape. Now watching from a one-paned window overlooking the Khanenko museum, the intense enjoyment of an insidious plan spiraling to its climax, was a rare truffle on the palate.
I shifted to video as Lyriciana made the final drop to the roof. She shed her shoes like deciduous teeth as she curled around her guide wires to avoid the roof alarms. Priceless Byzantine icons were her target, and ironically her love of saints would be her downfall.
She’d injected the roof with saprobic worms a few weeks ago. To my great pleasure, it was the moment of realization that I had been right. The saddest part was the ease of which I would ruin her plan. Though adaptable, what Lyriciana didn’t plan for was my multilayered net.
I signaled the next stage to begin as she cut through the rotted roof panel with a vulcanite-insulated saw. Really I should have brought popcorn, the delectability of her—the alarm silently lit on my console and I peered down searching the screens.
Minutes passed. Lyriciana had disappeared. I had all the cameras gridded on one page and there was nothing on any of them.
Shivers followed the finger stroking down my neck as the text buzzed on my watch: "Saints Sergius and Bacchus are gone."
Before I could speak, Lyriciana wrestled me effortlessly into a neck-hold, her voice crooning in my ear as the room dimmed. “Oliver, my darling, to truly love, is to know another like themself.”
