Have you ever woken up around 2AM, 3AM, or 4AM…
…and suddenly your brain turns on?
Your eyes are open.
Your mind is racing.
Sometimes your heart even feels a little jumpy.
And then you lie there thinking:
"Why am I wide awake right now?"
I hear this from women constantly.
Women often assume it's just stress or aging.
But there’s actually something very specific happening in the body when this pattern shows up.
Around 2–3AM, your body naturally shifts hormone activity.
This is when cortisol, your body’s primary stress-response hormone, begins preparing your body to wake up.
In a well-regulated system, cortisol rises gradually and you wake up feeling rested.
But if your nervous system has been under pressure for a long time — from stress, hormone shifts, blood sugar swings, or exhaustion — cortisol can spike too early.
When that happens, your brain gets a signal that it’s time to wake up… even though your body still needs sleep.
So you find yourself lying there wide awake.
Over time, this pattern can leave women feeling:
• exhausted during the day
• wired at night
• foggy in the morning
• and frustrated because sleep used to be easy.
The important thing to know is this:
Your body isn’t broken.
It’s trying to regulate itself.
And once you understand the signals your body is sending, you can begin supporting it in ways that actually restore rhythm again.
When women begin calming the nervous system and supporting hormone balance properly, one of the first things that often improves is sleep.
And when sleep improves…
everything else becomes easier.
Energy.
Weight balance.
Mood.
Focus.
If you’ve been struggling with sleep like this, you don’t have to keep guessing about what’s going on.
Each week I open a few Hot Mess Breakthrough Sessions where we can look at the patterns your body is showing and start mapping a path forward.
If you'd like to explore that, simply reply to this email and say “sleep.”
I’ll send you the times I have open this week.
You deserve deep rest again.
