YOU CAN GROW BEYOND THIS CRISIS
KAMUSTA? How are you these days? How are you taking this crisis and ECQ?
Personally, it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions for me because as a professional speaker and facilitator, all my booked events got cancelled leaving me with no work. With no income, I didn’t know how I could manage to sustain my family and the advocacies I’d been supporting. My fear literally shrunk me and threatened to kill me faster than the virus! I felt powerless, hopeless and I thought, “Would I ever be able to bounce back from this?”
By God’s grace, I was delivered from this strangling fear while I was playing with my daughter one day. At one point during our playtime, she looked straight at me and through her eyes, I saw her say: Never give up, Dad. That was exactly what I needed to hear at that moment to wake up and get back on my feet. It became my turning point; from shrinking I made a decision to SHIFT by choosing to see this crisis through a new perspective. Instead of the fear, I chose to see instead the unique opportunities around me, opportunities that only this crisis can give!
After being set free from my fear, I remembered what had always helped me thrive and not just survive during my most trying times: having a growth mindset. Embodying a growth mindset means being committed to choose to grow and become BETTER no matter how difficult the situation may be. I know I will always have the power to choose what rules my life! And yes, I chose to let rule this growth mindset so I can become better, stronger and wiser.
As of this writing, things around me are still bleak and uncertain but one thing is for sure: I AM GROWING IN THIS SEASON.
