Howdy ,
After I completed my undergraduate studies, I wanted to do an MBA.
Not just any MBA, a Stanford MBA.
I got tossed between the Harvard vs. Stanford MBA argument.
But Stanford had my vote in its back pocket.
Why?
First things first, it had nothing to do with the Boston winters…so no one should say I have a weather beef against Harvard.
I liked the Stanford program’s flexibility where you were not too curriculum-driven and could customise your learning experience.
Add to that, the lecturers at Harvard are typically full professors who use the Socratic method to draw the class in.
At Stanford, you have more adjunct professors, typically alumni who have done remarkably well in business but are not trained academics or teachers. I love to hear more from the been-there-done-it-got-the-Tshirt crowd.
That’s also the reason I wanted to add a couple of years of work under my belt before I threw my hat into the MBA ring.
As things evolved in life when it was time for me to do the MBA, some things changed my pursuit of a US-based MBA program. That’s a story for another day.
I went to Manchester Business School, UK - ranked number 22 in the world at that time.
But I never lost the Stanford vibe…still haven’t lost it.
This is probably why I still adopt the school’s approach in my training approach.
I confess, that I still nip a bit from Harvard’s teaching approach too.
Trying to create the best of both worlds, right?
You will see all that on display on Saturday during “The High-Performance Edge: Your Playbook to Outperform & Stand-Out at Work” workshop.
And I look forward to seeing you in class on Saturday.
