Faith & Life Lessons - February 20, 2022

Welcome to the February 20th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week

This is probably one of the latest times I am putting this together.

One of the kids was ill over the weekend.

Any parent will understand what happens when that happens.

But I am glad I am still keeping my commitment to send this out.

I got some short thinking time during the church service.

I am finally going to be kicking myself out of the boat and walking on waters on something I have had under wraps for a bit.

Keep your eyes on your email on Tuesday.

It's not for everyone.

It's only for those who want to get on the boat with me.

And we ride on in March.

But you have to get on the boat in February.

I am soooooo passionate about it.

Let's keep it wrapped up till Tuesday.

Things I Learnt

1-Strategy vs Potential: Too many times, a lack of planning or a clear-cut strategy masquerades itself as self-doubt. The problem is that we spend so much time trying to fight self-doubt and end up doing nothing so we convince ourselves that we were never able.

The most popular way we fight self-doubt is by making declarations and encouraging each other.

Good start.

But if we stop there nothing changes.

If you have stayed in the church long enough, you would hear people given prophecies that address their self-doubt.

Prophecies that talk about who they will or can become.

Prophecies that kickstart the emotions.

And do nothing more.

Because the people who got the prophecies or encouraging words did nothing afterward.

We have the mind of Christ.

We know who we are.

So, we must "do" to show the world our identity.

We don't "do" to become who we are.

We "do" because it is who we are.

We plan because we have been told who we are.

Strategy and doing.

Not just potential and being fired up.

2-Building a Family for Your Family: I was speaking with an acquaintance whose next-door neighbor was moving out. The neighbor was relocating due to work.

He was chatting with the neighbor and asking if he had someone he would like to introduce to take over the apartment when he moves out.

According to him, if the next person that moves in is not neighborly, he may have to raise a fence between both apartments.

To provide context.

The guy was the one who introduced the neighbor to the apartment. His kids attended the same school as the neighbors and the families had struck up a good vibe during children pick-ups.

So, when the apartment next door became vacant, he mentioned it to them.

And that's how both families literally became a support structure for each other. Their kids played at each others' apartments and there was good camaraderie all around.

He was not waiting to see who was going to be his next neighbor, he wanted to play a part in getting the right neighbor.

His example really awakened me to the need to take action even in the smallest details of the environment that my family lives in.

He may not own the apartment but he could take a step to make sure the right person rents the apartment.

That is a proactive husband and father.

I want to be more like that.

Postscript

May you never forget that no matter how small you think you are, God is bigger than anything you will face in a world that He created. Amen

Tata,
