Welcome to the February 13th edition of Faith & Life y6Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week

One of my biggest reminders this week is the reminder that God actively creates difficult journeys for His kids.

Difficult journeys are His way of building our faith.

God didn’t bring up the “let my people go” agenda when a pharaoh that knew Joseph was in town.

He brought it up when all the odds were stacked against the Israelites.

He brought them out in a way that they knew in their heart of hearts that it was God.

Faith Building.

God’s way.

A unique learning experience.

Things I Learnt

1-A Great Spirit at Work: I listen to an older friend share a story that highlights why it’s great to always show up at work with a great spirit.

His dad was a professional in the hospitality business for years.

During one of his travels, he stumbled into a donut shop at 4 am.

His visit at the donut shop was remarkable for one thing - the lady serving.

He was impressed with the way she was serving everyone with huge enthusiasm and a cheerful attitude.

Before he left he spoke with her and dropped his business card.

Conversations later, she got a new job through him which doubled her salary. She worked at the new job for 10 years.

A whole new change in her life experience Simply because she showed up to work by 4 am with the right spirit.

Every day is a day to make a difference.

It could be a difference in the lives of the people we meet at work or even in our lives.

We just have to keep showing up with the right spirit.

Every day.

2-Leading Over Your Shoulder: I was visiting with an older couple who had been in leadership for a while.

I love the opportunity to collect stories and experiences from people like these. There is a richness that their stories offer which can’t be replicated.

There was one thing they said that represented a sort of heart hurt in their heart.

A lot of the millennials they had the opportunity to work with in recent times didn’t understand the value of waiting and learning before trying to get into leadership.

They seemed to be in a hurry to “go out there and bring a change.”

I can empathize.

Everyone is in a hurry to become a voice or an influencer.

And it’s not restricted to millennials.

Even I realize the possibility of such inclinations in me.

Sometimes I’m in a hurry to become a voice for something that has not yet become part of my life.

It’s the hypocrisy of calling people to a life that is alien to my everyday world.

It’s one of those things I fight in myself every day.

Postscript

May God keep your heart pure at all times so you see Him in the little wonders He brings your way every day. May you see everyday through the eyes of Jesus. Amen.

Tata,
