Welcome to the April 19th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.
The Story of My Week.
This was a mixed week for me.
A combination of emotional highs and downs (I won’t call them lows).
How did I get into the dumps?
By looking and thinking about stuff I shouldn’t.
You probably wonder why I did that.
Well, it proves that I am human and can still get distracted.
Recall the 40-day fast I spoke about; I am still on it. I close out in the new week.
So, I took some time to pray as part of the journey. And as a reminder that I am playing by different rules.
Really different rules.
I discovered the rules are getting deeper. And God is still demanding more.
I can’t judge my results like the results others have.
My results are measured in faithfulness to the rules I have been called to live by.
That’s the life and leading.
No matter the downs.
Things I Learned
1-Everybody Still Loves Stories: I did a presentation to an executive team. This was a presentation that would change different aspects of the business going forward.
How did I sell it to them?
With stories.
Yes…stories from their recent past, stories about their current and stories about the future they want to build.
Add to that, a few personal stories of mine.
It landed.
They agreed to a radical re-definition of how their people, business and market perception would be.
The whole presentation reminded me once again of the power of stories.
Stories are a simple way of tapping into the magic of our imagination.
Even serious executive-type professionals still need a bit of that.
Now and again
2-Miracles Still Happen: On Friday evening, my wife told me something that made me smile as she was saying it.
She asked me why.
I told her that something I had wanted to do, which I had thought was off the calendar, just became feasible because of what she had done.
What she did was a miracle.
Unexpected but appreciated.
God still does miracles.
In simple, unexpected ways
