I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.
During the week, I went through what John Cross describes as “The Dark Night of the Soul.”
Ok. It was not as intense as it was.
It probably came a distant second.
Why did this happen?
It is part of the struggles that come with pursuing a life that is bigger than the life you are used to.
The bigger life is inspired by the sense of calling into an adventure with God.
An adventure that is not without its challenges. Or better put, not without its cross.
When the weight of the cross occasionally becomes too burdensome, the soul goes through its dark night.
I’m not fully out but I’m better than I was at some point during the week.
I have two choices.
Go through it or turn back to the tranquillity of the familiar.
An adventure or a retreat into comfort.
Growth or stagnation.
The unknown or the predictable.
The choice is mine.
I am living my choice.
Things I Learnt
1-The Preparation for the Unexpected: On January 1st, my wife picked scripture verses for me as a promise from God.
I heard the verses but there was just a problem - I couldn’t make any sense of the word.
But I knew it was God’s word for me.
I have learned something. Don’t try to force an interpretation of God’s word. I read it and let it be when I don’t understand it.
Every word or prophecy has its interpretation within it.
And I believe the same holds for this too.
As it would turn out, the interpretation came this week.
At the beginning of the week, God gave me an interpretation of the scriptures and how it would apply to my situation.
As it would turn out, on Friday, I lived through a situation in which I had to respond based on the interpretation.
God always provides the interpretation to everyone word He gives at the right time.
2-Taking People With You: On Saturday, I attended the Shift Conference by Dr Sam Adeyemi. The conference is also the 30th anniversary of his starting the Success Power radio broadcast.
The interesting thing is that when he felt God prompt him to go ahead with it, he felt he was a bit of a fraud.
According to him, he thought he needed to have achieved the success he wanted to be speaking about before teaching.
Well, the whole situation showed me the second way God wants us to teach people.
First, we can teach from what we have experienced and achieved.
Second, we can teach from what we are discovering on the way to our mutual destination.
This is how you take people with you.
You take them on the same journey of discovery and achievement you are also going through.
And you get there together.
Think of it like, Joshua leading the people of Israel into the promised land.
He hadn’t been to the promised land either.
He and the people he led made discoveries, faced battles and became better at trusting God as they conquered the land.
Together.
And they reached the summit at the same time.
Together.
