Welcome to the February 19th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week
My week started with a bang.
One of my senior managers came in to tell me she was resigning.
Based on the big plans for the year, I’d prefer not to lose any staff members. And not a member of my inner circle.
But I understood her reasons. She had been in the company for about 15 years.
She wanted to try something out but her own. I am happy for her.
I love it when people take the courage to pursue plans they have for themselves.
This needs to be celebrated - even if it puts a new task on my agenda that I didn’t plan for.
The first task was to reaffirm the big goals we have as a company to the rest of the team without diminishing the value of the staff leaving.
48 hours later I sent an email to the entire staff notifying them of her resignation, not just that, I celebrated her and highlighted the milestones we were all making as a team.
The email followed the “sandwich” communication approach I teach in my practice.
Second, I have to take new risks with the rest of the team. I love risking more by believing in people’s ability to do more because they surprise by doing more than I may have expected.
Third, I have to bridge the gap by communicating more with the rest of the team.
I’m working on a series of engagements with the team which will run for a couple of weeks.
New tasks that come with an important team member leaving.
But it’ll be worth it.
Things I Learnt
1-A Goal & A Plan: One of my major targets for the year is to significantly improve my French.
During the week, I assessed my progress and I’m not convinced that my current plan is getting me to Uhuru.
I know I needed a new plan.
Interestingly, the next day, a new component to make my new plan workable landed.
A simple case of a solution meeting an identified challenge.
God gives answers for the challenges that we position ourselves to be the answer to.
It could be personal ones or not.
I remind myself to leverage the grace God gives for life to create solutions for the challenges I face.
Personally, professionally and otherwise.
2 - Not say all you Want to say: In conflict, we don't have to say all we need to say - according to us.
We just need to say what needs to be said to bring us closer to seeing eye-to-eye.
When we see eye-to-eye, it's easier to be understood without having to say all we need to say.
When we are understood, we will not be communicating with only words.
Postscript
May you find the wisdom to resolve the conflicts you face in a way that helps you grow as a better person. Amen
