Faith & Life Lessons - April 16, 2023

Welcome to the April 16th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week

On Tuesday, I made my second visit in two weeks to the doctor.

He wrote two prescriptions.

One was for the medication.

The other was for me to rest and be off work for the rest of the week.

I took the first prescription to the pharmacy and smiled at the second prescription.

I thought "All I'll need to do is take work slowly and I should be great."

The second prescription sheet must have smiled back.

It must have said, "By the time I am done, I'll have you down for the count."

And that's what happened.

By the time I got home on Tuesday, my body sent a shortwave message to the brain.

"We are not leaving this house for work tomorrow."

As it turned out, I couldn't go to work for the rest of the week.

It was only on Sunday morning that I started feeling myself getting back to peak levels.

This was a clear case of "the doctor knows best."

I am glad for the healing I experienced.

Feeling ready for a new week.

Things I Learnt

1-The Prayers of the Saints: An old friend that we hadn't spoken in a bit reached out to me during the week.

He left me a couple of WhatsApp messages to check up on me.

I called him up later in the week and we spoke for a bit.

As I gave him my updates - he said a word of prayer. I felt power move on the matter.

After his updates, I prayed over him too.

The whole thing reminded me of what we need to do more with each. Instead of only talking with each other, let's release power for action by praying over what we are saying during our conversations.

2-Never Stop Knocking: My wife & I lead a Young Professionals group at our church. We have an event coming up soon.

I had identified the coaches we wanted to work with for the event.

One of the key ones responded during the week to say he would not be available. His reasons were valid but I felt it was still a winnable situation.

Someone else I know agreed to facilitate a one-on-one meeting with him.

I met with him and a "No" became a "Yes".

It was a reminder to never let go of winnable situations even if the odds are long.

Keep knocking until you are sure the door is a wall.

Even then, instead of walking away, you may just need a bulldozer.

Postscript

I pray you don't give up when you need to fight through a wall. May you find encouragement to never leave a winnable situation no matter how difficult it seems. Amen
