Faith & Life Lessons | Life Lessons for Life

Welcome to the March 8th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.

One of the high points for me this week was speaking to a group of men that my spiritual director is mentoring.

They are in the US, so I had to stay up into the early hours to speak with them.

What I spoke about was something I had to build for myself a few years ago.

I built for myself the framework for living a well-ordered life.

I built it because I really needed something like it.

It has worked for me. And over the years, I have had the pleasure of teaching other people.

I was glad to share with these men what has helped me over the years.

I liked the questions they asked - it gave me hope that they would implement the things I shared.

This is the joy of sharing what I have discovered in life with others.

And I look forward to doing that more often.

Things I Learnt

1-Trusting the Wisdom of Others: I decided something at work. Later on, I had a chat with a more senior colleague.

His advice was to go a different direction.

And I went with it.

Why?

Because sometimes, the gift of wisdom, well-aged with experience, can give a better perspective of things.

And I choose to listen to such.

Even if it is a different direction

2-The Call of Sabbath: I am still working on living out my Sabbath season. It’s not just about doing nothing - it’s about doing everything like God would want them.

Jesus performed miracles on the Sabbath to show how God still works even on the rest day.

I am learning how God works every day, so I can perform miracles every day.

Miracles…Everyday.

Living Sabbath every day means more than taking things easy. It is doing the big things in a way that it is clear God is at work in it.

This is so important because this is a year of doing big things for me. I can’t burn out. But I must do as much as God would want to do through me.

Living the Sabbath life is a new experience.

Choosing to do only enough without over-labouring to the point of trying to achieve anything outside of faith.

That is Sabbath.

My current season of life

Postscript

May you find the rest of God in all you do. Amen
