Faith & Life Lessons | When God Blesses Sabbath

Welcome to the March 1st edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.

This has been one of my best weeks so far.

I’ll let you know why.

Recall that last week, I said that going into the new week, I would be implementing hard-stop for when I stopped working.

Well, I didn’t keep my hard-stop every day, but I did that enough to see a difference in my week.

Because of the hard-stop, I was more intentional about how I spent my working hours.

I was actively pushing things that didn’t need to be on my table out.

And I saw changes in my results.

I closed a number of my high-value tasks during the week.

My body also got more rest than I have had in weeks.

I know the results I got were not all down to me.

It was God blessing my Sabbath.

Yes, I am living in Sabbath.

A place where results are not based on a lot of effort but rather on God’s blessing on wise efforts.

God at Work.

Things I Learnt

1-Courage to Refuse More: The reward for being good at your job is that you get more work to do. I have been getting a lot of that lately.

But I have also been given the wisdom to know my limits.

The limits that push me towards the edge.

The edge I don’t want to come to.

Knowing those limits lets me know when I need to say “No” to more.

This happened during the week.

My CEO pushed something to my desk. This was not something more to add.

So I walked into his office. There are times to negotiate - this was not one of them.

Yes, negotiation to change the timing or drop something else to take this on. Not on this.

Carefully, I made it clear that this was not something I could take on. It would affect my ability to achieve results in the other areas.

And I left his office with that win.

There is no need to break my physical and mental limits when bigger things still lie ahead.

The courage to refuse more.

2-The Rhythm of Success: On Saturday, I made another decision on how I would be serving my workplace audience.

This had to do with my podcast. Normally, I drop new episodes on Tuesday. But I realised I was piling too many things into that day.

So, I moved it to Wednesday.

Why?

Because I want to create a rhythm of continuous sustained success.

I will be here for the long term. So I will act in that spirit.

My decisions will be based on showing up for the long haul.

Not on short-term consistency. A long-term commitment to results.

Postscript

May you live in a life rhythm that sustains you for the long-term. Amen
