Faith & Life Lessons – June 8, 2025

image

Welcome to the June 8th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.

Two Sundays ago, I was signing copies of my published book, "Winning Beyond Borders: Achieving Success at Work in a New Country.”

The day was also the first year anniversary of the publication of the book.

Everyone I signed a copy of their book to was exactly my target audience.

They were living outside their country of birth, working and making a difference for themselves, their families, and their workplaces.

The past year has been an experience in seeing how one book can bring so much value to many.

I have had people reach out to me to create extensions for the book - have it translated into other languages, do an audiobook and so much more.

During the week, I did some thinking on “what I could be doing”.

Well, I have decided to do two things.

First, I will be doing a second edition release for the book on June 1, 2026. I will be updating the book in light of recent events and new research.

Second, I will be working on a training course to extend the concepts in the book. I am hoping to launch in Q3 2025.

I’ll leave the audiobook version of the book till after the second edition of the book is released.

Translating into other languages? We will see what the future holds for that.

I’m living with the ride I have for now.

Things I Learnt

1 - In the Interest of the Kids: One of the things I highlighted in my book, "Winning Beyond Borders: Achieving Success at Work in a New Country”, is the need to make decisions in the interest of the weaker members of the family.

Well, I had to do that this week.

Our family recently made a new transition. As part of the transition, we have to decide on something that impacts the whole family.

But we are leaning our decision in the best interests of our kids.

Why?

Because, as adults, we can adapt faster. We have to be careful of the level of burden of adaptability we demand from them.

Kids need to be allowed to grow in a nurturing & challenging environment. The challenges need to be calibrated over time.

That’s what we as parents are doing in our family.

Making the best decision in the interests of our kids.

2 - Living for What God Wants for Me: Recently, I have come to understand better what I should be living for and making my decisions around.

It has given me a sense of clarity when I face challenging situations.

God has offered me peace of mind, and He expects me to live within it.

This means when I face situations that overwhelm me, instead of worrying, I have learned to ask, “How do I need God to come through for me here?”

Asking that question has helped me to know what I should be focusing on.

Yes, I have learned to pray for the things that take me to the edge of the limits of my capabilities.

And trust in God’s ability to sort out those things outside my realm of capabilities.

Living for the peace of mind God is offering me in these seasons.

Postscript

May you find peace in God’s ability to sort out the things you don’t have the ability to sort out. Amen
