Welcome to the September 11th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week
Today was the first Sunday in two and half months that I sat in church to listen to the sermon.
One of the things that come with an international church is that people go back to their home countries now and again.
This summer, the children's teachers were off on holiday.
I couldn't let my kids just be bored sitting in Church.
We came to church with Bible lessons and follow-up creatives to support the lessons.
When it was sermon time, I would take the kids out and do our Sunday School.
A fellow parent with his baby remarked that I must home-school my kids.
Not really.
I guess I discovered a while back that the responsibility for training and teaching my kids is mine.
The teachers at school & church help me do the job.
But it's my job.
So, when they are not there to help, I knuckle down and do the work.
This is what my wife & I will continue doing.
Till the kids are up and gone from the roost.
Things I Learnt
1 - When Work is not Bringing the Bacon: The last couple of weeks at work have been a bit intense for me. I have been chasing funds to catch up on some stuff for the business.
I still haven't gotten the funds.
This is not about that.
This is about my state of mind.
Despite the work pressure, I am at rest.
The pressure of cash flow for the business and its success is on me. But it is not crushing me.
It's why I am happy I got this gig at this stage of my life.
I am at a stage in life where I have a better sense of clarity on what I control and what is outside my control.
For example, in this situation, I control all I need to do to make the money come.
I don't control the outcomes but I control how I influence the outcomes.
And tomorrow Monday, I will try my best again to see if I can get better outcomes.
2 - When Nature Fights Back: I have been experiencing unusual weather in my part of the world.
I bet you probably have been experiencing the same.
Some parts of Europe are experiencing a bit of drought.
The common reason given is global warming.
But as a Christian, I understand the bigger picture.
God is concerned for all His creations - not only humans.
This is one of the reasons why God told the Israelites to leave their land uncultivated in the 7th year.
He was interested in the land getting a rest time.
Did you know that the 70 years of exile that God gave the Israelites was for every year they did not let the land enjoy its 7th-year rest?
God fights for His creation including nature.
We must never forget.
And that is why we must be careful to use His creation responsively.
I'm reminded of that this week.
Postscript
May we never think that just because we are God's most important creation, we are His only creation. When we use His other creation irresponsibly, God fights for them. May we be responsible stewards of His creation. Amen.
