Welcome to the April 26th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.
The Story of My Week.
On Friday, I completed my 40-day fast.
Recall that when I was starting it about 6 weeks ago, I had written, “My 40-day consecration is going to be part of building God’s acceleration for the next quarter for me.”
I think I undersold what it would become.
During the 40 days, God has set in motion things that would build acceleration for me for the rest of my life.
Period.
No, it wasn’t a case of me trying to get God to do what He didn’t want to do. It was placing me in the ready zone.
Over the fast, I have gotten clarity on how to make certain core decisions. I have also gotten a new set of people into my world.
These are people who are going to be a huge part of not just the next season of my life but the rest of my life.
This waiting was worth its weight in gold.
I can already see things changing around me - for my family and me.
I am filled with passion for what the next season of my life will be
Things I Learned
1-Negotiating From Strength: I had to negotiate a few things during the week. The biggest issue going into negotiations is to expect more based on assuming you have less.
The simpler way to win is to be clear on what to say “Yes” or “No” to.
I had to negotiate a major opportunity.
Irrespective of what the other person was asking, I had simplified my going-in frame.
Interestingly, the other person liked what I was offering enough to say, “Yes” to my proposal.
The whole experience reminded me of the need to place more value on what I have. The market will always come around to value that it can feel and respect.
2-God of the Seasons: Every season has a word, or rather, the direction that drives action.
I discovered a bit more of those during this week.
I was in a meeting when it hit me. I had to start writing it so I can keep it front and centre.
This direction was for a particular aspect of my life.
It will govern all I will do in that area for this season.
I want to actively be listening…for all areas in my life.
The God of all seasons is speaking and at work.
I am working the way He is working.
Postscript
May your ears be open to hear God give you direction for your next season of life. Amen
If this encouraged you, please share it with a friend who needs it. And if you are not subscribed yet, make sure you are on the list so you do not miss the next one.
