Howdy ,
At each stage of your career, you need to develop key value statements that define the most important objectives you are pursuing.
These objectives must align to the people you serve.
Once upon a time, I was leading a business of teams across two countries.
My overarching value statement was this - I take care of my staff so they can take care of our clients and partners who help us to take care of our profitability.
At some point, I had a decision to make. It’s one of those times when you have to chose what to do with limited funds.
After almost half of the day thinking through and talking it with two senior members of my team, I still was in a middle point.
I woke up next morning with a question.
What choice supports my value statement?
That question should have been my first question.
It made the decision clear and simpler to make.
But the road to executing the decision would be harder to live with.
I guess that’s why I get paid the bucks. (Smiles).
What is your value statement for the role you currently occupy at work?
This will be the game changer to making better decisions everyday at work.
These decisions are up.
They create the legacy you will leave behind at each work place.
As they stack up well, your progress at work stacks up too.
Have you got a value statement?
Maybe you need to spend some time this week to create one.
As always.
Keep Multiplying what you have been given by God in life.
I am a Workplace Multiplier.
