Faith & Life Lessons - May 21, 2023

Welcome to the May 21st edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week

There are some pressures that you only understand when you are leading a business or running a start-up.

My week was filled with all those pressures and more.

So, what pulled me through?

I reminded myself that I was made for this season.

Yes, I believe that I show up every day to provide answers to the questions and issues that I have to face.

The answers may not have to come from me but I believe I will find them in me or in the relationships that I have during this season.

I haven't solved all the questions from the week. Some of them will go with me into the new week. That's where I know I will solve them.

And if I don't solve them in the new week with the resources I have around me, they will go into another week.

But I will not ignore them.

Or imagine they will disappear.

Because I know I was made for this season.

I come bearing answers for the questions I will face in this season.

And I will keep solving for them.

Things I Learnt

1 - How You Show for People Will be Understood: Two members of my staff said something this week that reaffirmed one of my core principles for leading the businesses I lead.

I shared with my team that my philosophy is to take care of my staff who will take care of our partners and customers who will take care of the business profits. And with this business profits, our shareholders are taken care of.

The first node is that I take care of the staff that work with me.

Two of my staff - one had just left and the other was taking a new role in the business.

Independently, both of them said that they knew and could see that I am committed to improving the value that staff members get from the business.

It's one thing to say the talk, it's another to walk the talk.

I am glad that the people I work with could see that I was living out what I have said.

It's the integrity I want to show up with at work.

2 - Wisdom to Solve Work Problems: I saw God's grace show up for me at work. A reminder that the power of God I carry is for the workplace.

One of my staff sent me a document for review - I saw a gap in what he had done.

He did not get the result we needed. The analysis was lacking a couple of things.

There was a simpler way to do it - it would require some formulas.

I went to bed thinking about it.

The next day, I woke up and the formula just came to me - in the exact logic I should lay it out.

That inspiration gave me speed.

I knew it was God at work.

There is power to live the life that God has called us to live in everyday life.

And I am committed to laying hold of it for every aspect of my life.

Postscript

May you always be willing to open every aspect of your life to God's wisdom & power. May this help you to create everyday solutions that help you in life & work. Amen
