Welcome to the June 28th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.
The Story of My Week.
.
I had a meeting with my spiritual director this week.
The meeting was an opportunity for me to pause and reflect on a couple of things.
I came with something.
God is teaching me more about how to move slowly with speed.
Yes…a complicated position.
Moving slowly means less work.
But "with speed" means I still have to live up to the results God has set for me.
Yep…no excuse saying "move slowly" should reduce outcomes.
The overall effect is that I need to know the irons I should be placing in the fire to deliver the right results.
Accuracy to listen to God and hear him clearly as He speaks, so I can do right - this is the game for the season.
Talking with my spiritual director spurred this moment of clarity.
It's what I am living by.
Things I Learned
1-Build an Ecosystem from the Problem: I was part of a meeting where we had a two-time unicorn founder sit in with us.
We could ask any question - which we did.
After exiting the two unicorns he had been part of, he is now solving new problems.
One thing struck me: this guy didn't create business solutions by solving the problem in front of him; he did it by converting that single problem into an ecosystem problem.
.
Yep…instead of focusing on one problem, he was converting it into a problem that could scale.
He scales it by looking at all the other points that could stop the solution he is creating from scaling.
It is big picture thinking at the next level.
I started looking at some of the solutions I was creating, trying to figure out how I could bring this level of thinking into them.
Not solving one problem, but building an ecosystem for scaling.
2-When God Talks with Bad News: I was listening to someone share a life experience where he had a premonition of a bad event and assumed it was the devil.
He kept praying and fasting, but the premonition would not go away.
The interesting thing was that the premonition helped him to listen to God tell him to make a different choice.
The different choice worked out to his and his family's benefit.
I guess when we have become so used to saying, "if it is bad stuff, it must be the devil", it becomes difficult to hear God call our attention when we hear or see bad stuff.
God uses everything to get our attention and tell us what we need to know.
Including bad stuff
Postscript
May see God at work even through the uncomfortable things. Amen
