Welcome to the October 19th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.
Never stay on the sidelines.
I had a meeting with the leadership at my kids’ school about things I had noticed.
We are just about 1 month into the new school but I wasn’t going to just sit on the sidelines at things I like to see improved.
Initially, I thought the challenges we were having were due to early-day blues.
Well, last weekend, we attended a birthday party of a kid where other parents were there. These were not new parents at the school.
They were having the same problems, but they had embraced it as just part of the groove.
Not us.
I met with the leadership and got them to plan for action on some of the issues. I also got them to accept one of my proposals for one of my kids.
I refuse to be a parent on the sidelines.
Why?
Because the responsibility for raising our kids into well-equipped adults is with us, the parents. Institutions like the school are partners helping us. They have to align with the way that is most important to us.
Things I Learnt
1-When People Don’t Want to do Few Things: During a feedback session with a senior executive, I could see how he was interested in achieving big results for his business.
He was mapping out the sort of big results he wanted for 2026.
The only problem was that a few days later, I saw him engage in the wrong actions towards achieving these big 2026 results.
He was already chasing new shiny distracting projects for 2026.
I have come to realise that success is sometimes achieved by committing to doing a few boring, consistent actions.
Boring they may be, but they remain the engine room to ensure consistent success.
I have what I call my “Daily Goal Challenge”.
These are 3 things I remind myself that I need to do every day to achieve success.
I - What am I giving up today to achieve my goals?
II - What boring thing am I doing today to achieve my goals?
III - What uncomfortable action am I taking today to achieve my goals?
You can see the “boring” part at number 2.
Consistently doing these every day is a recipe for success.
This is something I will have to mention to the senior executive.
2-God Knows Best: I was on a call with friends of mine in the US who shared a story of how God showed up differently to answer their prayers.
One of their kids was off to college. As part of their prayers, they prayed for a Christian roommate.
A noble prayer which God chose to ignore.
The roommate that their kid got had no history with Christianity.
Fast forward to current events, and the roommate has now become interested in Jesus to the point of asking about how to get a Bible.
A completely first-time request in their life.
God knows best what He is doing.
We can ask.
But He will do what is best.
Postscript
May you be comforted in God’s ability to answer your prayers in the best way for your growth. Amen
