Welcome to the November 10th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.
One of the unique things about sailing a ship is the need to constantly adjust to changing weather conditions to maintain course to the destination.
This is a metaphor for life itself.
During the week, I had to adjust some of my actions to changing conditions.
I switched things around so I could give myself room to breathe.
I was adjusting to my reality.
Additionally, I am also redesigning my ideal working week.
Why?
Because the current plan is not serving me or my objectives well.
I am adjusting the course so I can still maintain my destination.

Things I Learnt
1- Opportunities Come From Relationships & Reputation: Over the past two weeks, opportunities have shown up for me simply because of the relationships I have built.
Or a reputation built years ago.
On Sunday after service, I met someone who had known me during my undergraduate days.
He remembered me well and the reputation I had.
Because of that and the fact that we are in the same industry, we will be meeting up later in the week to explore opportunities.
An interesting thing happened while we were speaking. Another acquaintance of mine who was also in the same industry joined our conversation. During our conversation, we identified some ways of collaboration.
It’s no longer a two-way thing. It’s now a three-way opportunity chain.
Something popped for me during everything.
Never be in a hurry to make things happen.
In their time, they will show up.
2 - Mentoring by Modeling: During the week, one of the team leads who reported to me mentioned that she had a member of her team that she would be giving more leadership opportunities.
Great idea.
Afterwards, I asked the team member if there was any way I could support him in building his leadership muscles.
His response was fascinating.
He said I was already doing a lot by modelling how to lead. According to him, he had never been one to choose examples to pattern his life by but I had changed his mind.
He gave a few examples of things he had seen in my leadership that he would like to model.
Fascinating.
Here was I asking to help only to be told that I was already helping.
I was mentoring by modelling the right example.
An example he could live by.
And replicate.
Postscript
May you live your life as an example that people around aspire to become. Amen
