Welcome to the June 15th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.
During the week, my spiritual director reached out to ask if I would be willing to join him in mentoring a group of men for a year who would be undergoing spiritual direction.
He prefaced his request with a clear understanding of the current stage of life I am in. Yes, I have a heavy schedule.
And the meetings would be on the other side of the time zone. I would have to be up early hour of the morning.
If I say “Yes”
And “Yes,” I said
Why?
Because weeks earlier, God had been stirring within me the conviction that I would be doing more in this season of life to serve and empower others.
I said “Yes,” knowing that saying “Yes” would make my life busier.
A sacrifice to make to enter the next level of growth in my life.
By serving others more.
In a way that stretches me
Things I Learnt
1 - God in the Small Stuff: On Friday, one of our kids reminded me that I had promised a sleepover in our room earlier on.
We ended up having all the kids in bed with us. One of our kids said, “All of us in one continent, one country, and one bed”.
Well, overnight, we had the rain come through the kids’ room. Their beds got wet.
But sleeping in our room meant they had undisturbed sleep. They didn’t wake up early at all in the morning.
One of the simple ways God shows up, in the small stuff.
2 - Friends Stepping in to Surprise: My wife was speaking with a friend from the previous country we lived in.
She was updating her on the latest happenings and how settling down was going.
Without being prompted, the friend offered to send someone living in the country who could help my wife for a few days to settle down.
And it was at no cost to us.
The blessing of friends. This is something we have lived through in the past few years.
Please note that the friend we are talking about, we only just met her within the last 3 years, when she moved to Senegal.
Living as pilgrims in a foreign country has taught us to step in for each other. But I’m still wowed now and again when I see how friends come through for us.
I don’t take them for granted.
I am always grateful to friends who step in to surprise me.
Postscript
May you build a community of friends who can step in to support & surprise you. Amen
