Plateaus, Explained (and What Actually Helps)
May 25, 2026 12:09 am
Happy Sunday, !
The frustrating truth about progress?
It’s not a straight line.
Plateaus are normal.
They usually mean your body has adapted to what you’ve been doing.
Why plateaus happen:
When you’ve been consistent with your habits, your body adapts and gets more efficient.
• A smaller or fitter body needs fewer calories
• Workouts that once felt hard start to feel easier
• Recovery, sleep, and stress begin to matter more
Fix #1: Double-check your nutrition
You can’t outwork a plateau.
Focus on being consistent, not “perfect.”
Small adjustments create progress without you feeling restricted or deprived.
Fix #2: Change the workouts, not the schedule
Your body adapts quickly to familiar workouts.
Things to try:
• Swap exercises or rep ranges to challenge your muscles in new ways
• Adjust your intensity or rest times
• Use supersets or circuits for a few weeks
New stimulus creates new progress.
Fix #3: Pay attention to recovery & daily movement
This part is often overlooked.
• Prioritize sleep whenever possible
• Manage stress with realistic tools
• Increase daily movement like steps, standing, or light activity
Progress doesn’t only happen because of your workouts.
Pick one area to focus on this week:
• Nutrition
• Workouts
• Recovery & daily movement
Mix it up and keep it doable.
