Why Motherhood changes you and why that's NOT a bad thing

Hello!
Welcome to this week's email from Flourish Mama (that's me, Michelle!).
Motherhood is a rollercoaster. One moment you're pregnant and planning all the beautiful wooden toys that your child will lovingly use in their imaginative play, next minute your toddler is busy using the wooden hammer to mush a strawberry into your carpet, before flinging it away in anger because the strawberry couldn't be reassembled.
Not only does becoming a Mum change your ability to go out on a whim or get your eight hours of beauty sleep in, it fundamentally changes who you are. Or at least, who you thought you were.
I sometimes cast my mind back to my pre kid days and wonder who that woman would be now if she hadn't decided to become a Mum. She certainly had no idea of the enormous impact motherhood would have on her life! About how significantly her priorities would shift and reshape themselves.
Motherhood has made me more patient, more accepting, less selfish (not that I thought I was selfish before, but you know, kids bring a whole new level), braver, less afraid of standing out from the crowd, more aware of my own and other's needs, more able to stand up for what I believe in...
Yes, motherhood will change you. In teeny tiny ways and in bloody enormous ways. But for the most part, those changes are for the good.

Until next week,
