Ain't nobody got time for that!

Hey there Mama,
I wonder, if I said to you, right now: today you need to take ten minutes out for yourself. Ten minutes to do ANYTHING that you love and brings you joy.
Would you think, actually, that's a bloody great idea, thanks for the reminder. Or would you be telling yourself: what?!?! As if, where in the ever loving heck does this woman think I've got a spare ten minutes??
Hmmm. As Mums, we tell each other a lot of stories. Truly, there are stories and beliefs that run on autopilot in our brains. Things like: I'm a bad Mum if I don't put the kids first every second of every day. Why can't I get my sh*t together and be organised like other Mums? I don't deserve to do something for myself, I haven't even got halfway through my to do list today! I don't have time for me, I'm a Mum, I'm too busy!
Do any of these sound familiar?
Except, we do have pockets of time in our day that we can claim for ourselves. As soon as your bubba or toddler goes down for a nap, dedicate that first ten minutes to you. Or that moment when your little one is actually doing some self directed play (hallelujah!), DO NOT PICK UP YOUR PHONE. No doom scrolling Mama, go make yourself a cuppa and drink it while its hot or do a quick ten minute work out. Side note, doing a ten minute workout beats doing no workout EVERY TIME.
If you're a naturally early riser, take the first ten minutes of the day for yourself. Do your moisturising routine, or a mini yoga set, or eat breakfast in peace and quiet.
When you consider how you currently spend your day, I am confident there will be a ten minute pocket somewhere that you can choose to dedicate to yourself. The first step is understanding that you deserve time for yourself and it is just as high a priority as taking care of the people you love.
Hit reply and let me know how YOU would spend ten minutes on yourself!
Bye for now,
Michelle
