The people decision you keep not making

Howdy ,

You know the one.

It has been sitting on your desk…not literally, but in the back of your mind…for longer than you want to admit.

Maybe it is the leader who was right for the business three years ago but is now a ceiling on where it needs to go.

Maybe it is the role you keep filling with the wrong profile because the right conversation feels too hard.

Maybe it is the internal candidate you passed over six months ago who is still waiting for a path that you have not actually mapped out for them.

Whatever it is…you know.

And here is what I want to say about it directly:

The cost of not deciding is not neutral.

Every week that decision sits unmade, the business is paying for it. In momentum.

In the quiet frustration of the people around the situation who can see it clearly even if they say nothing. In the ceiling you are operating under without naming it.

Most delayed people decisions are not complicated.

They are uncomfortable.

And discomfort is not a reason to wait. It is a signal that the decision is real and that it matters.

The question I want to leave you with this week…not as a provocation, but as a genuine invitation to think:

What people decision are you currently managing around instead of making?

Sit with that over the weekend.

Because the businesses that grow into their ambition are not led by people who make perfect decisions.

They are led by people who make necessary ones.

Keep winning at work and in life

P.S. Next week I am going to flip this lens completely. We have spent this week on how you assess capacity in others. Next week is about how you assess it in yourself....and what to do about what you find. Watch for it on Monday.
