WHAT EXACTLY IS A BUSINESS SYSTEM?

Dear Entrepreneur,

Did you go on the Easter holidays or were you in business still? I run a medical business and a peculiar thing about this is that we do not have holidays, we are required to be in business 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, all year round.

So if you had no holidays, I got you. I know how demanding this can be especially if your business is in the early stages.

 I know what you can do to thrive, to begin to have your holidays too, such that you can rest, bond and connect with people who truly matter to you and still not be found wanting at your business post.

Do you want to know what I know?

You do?

So here it is; SYSTEMS and PROCESSES.

This right here is what turns a self-employed person into an entrepreneur and it's how an entrepreneur will be able to enjoy the beauty and freedom of entrepreneurship.

I invented an entrepreneurship model, and one of the basic principles I talk about in the Yemisi Adeyeye entrepreneurship model is SYSTEMS. You will get details about this in my book, ENTREPRENEURSHIP IS A BEAUTIFUL THING. Get it here; www.yemisiadeyeye.com/get-my-book

So what exactly is a business system?

A business system is a series of interdependent tasks or documented procedures that outline exactly how to do something in an organisation to achieve a business objective.

Good business systems streamline workload, improve productivity and get results. Systems allow your business to run like a well-oiled machine while making it ultimately, more profitable.

Ever thought about getting things done faster? Eliminating bottlenecks? Reducing your workload? Taking a month-long vacation? Opening more branches? Hiring more people? Scaling your business to multiple 7-figures?

Systems allow you to do all these things and more.

So, any time you have a certain way of doing things, that in itself is a system. How do you receive customers into your business space? How do you package your products? All the simple processes involved in getting things done in your business come together to make a system.

For example, a system could be a step-by-step guide for getting a customer to return. The steps involved could be;

Step 1: Insert a Thank you card alongside their purchased product. For service providers, this can be sent by email or any medium of choice. (Note that this is done immediately the transaction is concluded)

Step 2: Send a message inquiring about their experience with your products or services within the next 48 hours of the transaction.

E.g, Hello Mr X, we are glad you chose us as your caregivers at Lifefount hospital, we are texting to know how improved your health has been since you left the hospital.

People don't care how good you are at what you do until they know how much you care about them.

Step 3: Send a message inquiring for their honest feedback after 72 hours.

E.g. Hello Mr X, we believe you are well recuperated by now. Did we serve you well? Kindly send us a review, because we are ever interested in ways to improve our service delivery.

These are steps by which you write your brand name in the subconscious mind of your customers.

The example up here is not all-inclusive nor is it exhaustive in detail, it is simply to prompt you into creating systems for different aspects of your own business.

You can create and document systems for any aspect of your business. It should be unique and peculiar to you and your business.

Perhaps the only thing more important to you as an entrepreneur than financial success is freedom. And systems are how you enjoy freedom as a business owner.

Now, this is what I want you to do;

  1. Read more about systems and their components on page 19 of my book ENTREPRENEURSHIP IS A BEAUTIFUL THING.
  2. Create a system for any aspect of your business using what I have shared in this email and in the book ENTREPRENEURSHIP IS A BEAUTIFUL THING.

I am always available to help you in your entrepreneurial journey. Let me know how you do with creating systems for your business by sending me a reply, I'll read and respond appropriately.

Love and regards,

Dr Yemisi Adeyeye
