Reminder | July 2023

Hello

This is just a reminder that tomorrow is the July meeting and tour of the Westside Marine Railroad Yards and a meeting for food and refreshments at the Frying Pan restaurant located on a former Erie rail barge with thier own Erie Caboose.

We plan to meet at 6:30 PM at the Swiss Rolex store in the Hudson Yards Shopping Mall by the windows looking towards the Vessel but inside so we can enjoy the AC.

The plan is to walk the few blocks to the former sight of the Erie Yard, then observe the renovation work on the Civil War era Terminal Warehouse it was served by the NY Central and the Erie, Then the Starret-Lehigh former Lehigh Valley Building and then the B&O warehouse which is the only remains of their yard.

Then we will cross the Westside Highway and go to Pier 66. Pier 66 has the B&O float bridge wich is connected to the former Erie float barge that has the Frying Pan Restaurant and bar. We will then eat and have refreshments and talk some trains. Sunset is around 8:30. The Frying Pan is on the river so I hope it will be cooler.

Please let us know if you are coming. I dont want to accidentaly leave someone behind. If you need to contact me (Andy Estep) my cell is 619-991-0083.

I am looking forward to seeing some of you. I know this will be a fun field trip.

-Andy

Here are proposed By-Laws for the Manhattan Modelers, which we need in order to gain NMRA SIG recognition. Please review them to your satisfaction. We will open the floor to discussion and an acceptance vote on them at the upcoming July 9th meeting.

Join us on Discord

We have setup a Manhattan Modelers Discord as a place to share projects & ideas, post events, ask and answer questions and make connections.

We have chosen Discord because it is organized around specific interests instead of providing a unified newsfeed. Discord is focused on real-time interactions between people, whereas other social media options function as internet message boards.

Discord also has a Zoom like video conferencing feature, but without the limits of the free Zoom.

Click on this link which will ask you to either create an account or login to your existing account.

Once you join, you will see the logo for the Manhattan Modelers "server" on the left and the various "channel" topics on listed to their right.
